Clean air is good business. Since 2000, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has issued year-round daily air quality forecasts as the region’s leading air quality experts.  Our Air Quality Awareness Program addresses our region’s air quality issues, and informs and alerts the public, local governments, businesses, organizations and individuals of the actions they can take to protect public health and reduce air pollution.

MORPC recognizes the importance of a healthy natural environment for quality of life, economic prosperity, public health and growth of a region.  Resources and funding are available to help Central Ohio businesses meet their air quality and sustainability goals.

Ohio Air Quality Development Authority
Contact the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority for financing programs to assist large and small Ohio businesses in the purchase, construction and installation of new facilities and equipment that help abate air pollution. More information is available at www.ohioairquality.org.

No Idling
Unnecessary vehicle idling wastes fuel and contributes to unhealthy air pollution. MORPC has free parking lot signs available on a first-come, first-served basis to local governments, schools, businesses, hospitals and other organizations interested in joining the effort. Recipients of free signs must have an internal no-idling policy in place, which MORPC can help develop.

Take Five for Clean Air
The Take Five for Clean Air pledge is tailored toward governments, businesses and organizations, and individuals.

Click here to find a checklist of voluntary actions your business can take to improve air quality on Air Quality Alert days and in daily practices. MORPC will recognize your business on our website for pledging five or more actions. Communities may also develop plans to incorporate air-friendly actions into their operations, with an example represented by the City of Columbus Air Alert Action Day Plan.
