MORPC is hosting its winter Weatherization Showcase at the home of Robert and Julia Sims. The Sims' home will be open to attendees to observe the process of MORPC’s residential energy efficiency service, also known as weatherization. Community leaders and public officials are expected to attend.

Weatherization is a free service offered by MORPC to income-eligible residents in Franklin County in an effort to reduce energy consumption. Through the process, MORPC staff assess, repair and replace electric and gas appliances in order to improve efficiency and safety. Since 1988, MORPC has helped over 13,000 families achieve on average a 25 percent reduction in energy bills.

These services are free thanks to funding from WarmChoice® offered by Columbia Gas of Ohio, American Electric Power (AEP) Ohio’s Community Assistance Program and the Home Weatherization Assistance Program administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency.

The weatherization showcase will provide the opportunity to see MORPC’s free residential energy efficiency services in action. Stations will be set-up throughout the house to demonstrate the insulation process and combustion analysis testing as well as devices such as an infrared thermography camera and a blower door.
