Water Quality

Central Ohio is known nationally for our beautiful, ecologically diverse rivers and streams.  Aesthetically, ecologically and economically our streams offer countless opportunities for improving the community's health and enhancing our quality of life.

Greenways Plan
MORPC has been working to protect our water quality since 1997 with the creation of “Greenways: A Plan for Franklin County."  The plan set out to protect water quality in the heart central Ohio, but today, the Center for Energy and Environment strives to achieve high water quality throughout the MORPC 12-county region and beyond.

Greenways Program
MORPC’s Greenways Program provides models, strategies and information that will empower citizens to participate in the environmental planning process and affect land use decisions in their community and watershed. People value what they appreciate and appreciate what they value. Greenways staff strive to increase residents and local officials’ understanding and knowledge of the relationship between environmentally sensitive planning, proper land use techniques and improved water quality.
