Greater Columbus Green Map

Traditionally maps have been focused on roads, highways and political boundaries, but Green Map's help the user to view the world through a green lens. As part of an international system using icons recognizable world wide, the Greater Columbus Green Map shows the location of parks, natural food stores, secure bike parking sites and more. Visit the online, interactive version or request a hard copy by contacting Leslie.

Natural Garden Landscape

In Ohio, prairies were once common and, when reintroduced to our landscape, can thrive without fertilizers, pesticides, frequent mowing or irrigation.

GreenSpot Program
Launched in 2008 and available for use by all communities, the GreenSpot program is designed to inspire, educate and recognize those in our community who are taking steps to get green. Households, businesses, organizations and community groups can apply for a GreenSpot.

Ohio Green Fleets Program
Certification program designed to reduce the emission and fuel use of vehicle fleets through policy design, implementation assistance and the development of a statewide rating system recognizing the most cleanest, most efficient fleets. Ohio Green Fleets a program of Clean Fuels Ohio and is presented in collaboration with the Ohio Energy Office, Earth Day coalition and several local and regional organizations, including MORPC.

Model Weed Ordinance
An example for communities to use in order to provide standards for the development and maintenance of their corporate, public or private landscapes. The ordiance encourages the preservation, restoration, and management of native plant communities and wildlife habitats.

Emerald Ash Borer
Ash trees are being threatened in our region by an insect, the Emerald Ash Borer. The Ohio State University has created a website to help your community deal with this devastating problem.

Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO)
Information for companies, citizens and local governments regarding waste, recycling and other related issues.

The Waste Not Center Receives donations of supplies that would otherwise be discarded and makes them available to teachers, artists and non-profit organizations for a small annual membership fee.

Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore
Accepts and re-sells new and reusable home improvement building materials.

Leave No Child Inside
Connects existing parks and natural spaces with children, promoting the many many benefits nature has on healthy childhood development.
