MORPC Seeking Comments on TRAC Projects

MORPC is seeking public comments on eight projects eligible for funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)’s Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC). Projects include:

  • ODOT District 5: US 33/Carroll Interchange Improvements
    The proposed project will include the replacement of an at-grade intersection at US Route 33 and Winchester Road/High Street with an interchange located 2,500 feet northwest of the existing intersection.
    New Project; Tier 1; CON: Requesting $30.5 million

  • ODOT District 5: I-70 Widening (ODOT District 5)
    The proposed project will include the widening of Interstate 70 in Fairfield and Licking Counties from the existing configuration of four (4) lanes to six (6) lanes.
    New Project; Tier 2; PE/DD/CON: Requesting $10 million

  • ODOT District 5:US-33/Pickerington Rd. Improvements
    The proposed project will replace the existing intersection of US 33 and Pickerington Road with an interchange. Service roads to service Allen Road and other at-grade access points will be evaluated to connect existing residential and commercial developments.
    New Project; Tier 2; PE/DD: Requesting $1.5 million

  • ODOT District 6: I-270/US-33 in Dublin
    Proposed Phase 1 constructs directional ramps replacing the existing loop ramps in the northwest and southeast quadrants of interchange.
    Move to Tier 1 from Tier 2; PE/ROW/CON: Requesting $46 million

  • ODOT District 6: Far East Freeway
    The proposed project is the first Far East Freeway Study project. It will replace the southbound I-270 to eastbound I-70 loop ramp with a flyover ramp and construct auxiliary lanes along eastbound I-70 between I-270 and Brice Road.
    Move to Tier 1 from Tier 2; DD/ROW/CON: Requesting $75.5 million

  • ODOT District 6: Franklin/Fairfield US-33 (Bixby Rd)
    The proposed project will construct an interchange at the intersection of US 33 and Bixby Road.
    Move to Tier 2 from Tier 1; Requesting $0

  • ODOT District 6: South Outerbelt
    This project seeks to reduce congestion and increase capacity on I-270 between I-71 and US 23 by widening I-270 and modifying the interchanges at US 23, I-71 and Stringtown Road.
    Tier 2; DD: Requesting $11 million

  • ODOT District 6: I-70/I-71/SR 315 Project (Innerbelt Project 6)
    The overall set of 70/71 South Innerbelt projects seek to increase safety and reduce congestion on I-70 and I-71 through downtown Columbus. This request is for funding to construct additional pieces of phase 2 of the overall improvements and continue development of phase 6.
    Move to Tier 1 from Tier 3; DD/CON: Requesting $24 million

Community leaders who made extraordinary efforts in contributing to the welfare of Central Ohioans were honored at MORPC's State of the Region Luncheon held April 25, 2013 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus.

Liberty Street Construction beginning This Month
3.6.2013

Liberty Street will close to thru traffic between South Front and Short streets for the OARS Deep Sewer Tunnel project. Construction will begin this month and is expected to last around 160 days.

The MORPC offices and parking lot will remain open to the public via South Front Street to Liberty Street. Maps, directions and other information regarding the project will be posted as they become available at www.morpc.org, and on the MORPC Facebook Page, MORPC Twitter and MORPC Google+ Page.
