Jean Carter Ryan Receives MORPC's 2019 Regional Leadership Award
Jean Carter Ryan is the recipient of the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s (MORPC’s) 2019 Regional Leadership Award.
The award recognizes individuals in the region who make extraordinary efforts to ensure the future viability of the region’s communities. The Regional Leadership award is derived from MORPC’s continuing dedication to addressing issues that transcend community boundaries to inspire visionary thinking.
Jean Carter Ryan serves as the president of the Columbus-Franklin County Finance Authority, where she has successfully completed over 97 projects with a combined issuance of over $1.8 billion of public and private financing – improving the economic impact for Ohio communities. Strategic thinker, brilliant, passionate about community development, highly respected, expert in public finance, resilient, thoughtful, dedicated, decisive, caring and a greatly admired executive are frequent words and phrases used to describe Ryan. She is a sought-after speaker and willingly shares the creative leveraging of public and private investment to solidify significant capital investments.
During her time as deputy director of the Ohio Department of Development, Economic Development Division, Ryan introduced extraordinary investment in development projects that catapulted her career and earned her the respect and admiration of the economic development community. Her board service includes COTA, Mid-Ohio Development Exchange, OSU Knowlton School of Alumni Board, and the Ohio Economic Development Association Board. She is also a founding member of Women in Public Finance.
