Home Repair Services

MORPC works to help low- and moderate-income homeowners maintain and improve their homes through several home repair programs.

With funding provided by multiple agencies, MORPC has programs available to help homeowners improve the functionality of their homes so they can live in a safe and comfortable environment. Basic program eligibility requirements are based on total household income, ownership of the home, and area of residency.

Franklin County Home Repair Program

The Franklin County Home Repair program provides for health– and safety-related home repairs for homeowners living within Franklin County but outside the limits of the City of Columbus.

Qualified homeowners can receive a grant for repair projects such as:

  • Furnace/heating systems
  • Leaking or failing roofs
  • Faulty plumbing or electrical systems
  • Structural issues
  • Handicap accessibility modifications
  • Upgrading sewage disposal and private water systems
  • Other health- and safety-related issues

To qualify to receive home repair services, homeowners must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Home must be located within Franklin County but outside the limits of the City of Columbus
  • Must be current on Franklin County property taxes
  • Home must be valued at less than $145,445 (as valued by the Franklin County Auditor)
  • Must have homeowners insurance of at least the current market value (as valued by the Franklin County Auditor)
  • Annual, pre-tax, household income must be within the following income guidelines:

Partners Achieving Community Transformation (PACT) Exterior Repair Program

The PACT exterior home repair program helps to further support and complement existing redevelopment on the Near East Side. Near East Side residents within identified target zones may be invited to participate in the exterior home repair program as funding becomes available.

Typical repairs may include and are not limited to: roof repairs, new windows, siding, gutters and downspouts, front porch and/or deck repairs. MORPC provides expert repair consultation and trained technicians who meet individually with each homeowner to establish an individualized work plan. MORPC oversees the repair project and ensures repairs are completed properly and within the scope of work.

Repairs for the 2017-18 PACT Exterior Home Repair Program will continue through Spring 2018.
