Financing Infrastructure Public sole-sourcing of infrastructure cannot continue, and national, state, and local officials are exploring a mixture of funding systems and services to keep the economies of the nation, state and regions humming. A report produced for the US Congress by the national Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission laid out recommended actions for addressing shortfalls in federal transportation budgets. MORPC hosted a Regional Transportation Summit to bring this issue to the policy makers at the state and local levels. The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Business Plan included warnings about funding shortfalls. This is an issue that is at the forefront of the transportation community.
