How to Drive a Roundabout?
An educational video was developed to help you understand how to drive a roundabout. You may select either our 8-minute video or the summarized 2-minute version of the video. The videos are available to you as an embedded YouTube video or as a link to download to your computer. Please note that it may take a few seconds to download the videos.
Remember these 2 important rules of using a roundabout: ALWAYS Yield and Stay in your lane! State Law requires motorists to yield to pedestrians waiting to cross at the crosswalk, just like they are to yield to cars in the circulating portion of the roadway. Lane use is very similar to a typical four-way intersection, except for a slight circular adjustment (see picture below).
Typical 4-way Intersection
Please note that roundabouts also allow motorists to use the left lane to make a U-turn around the island.
