The southeast portion of Franklin County and northwest portion of Fairfield County had seen substantial growth. This, coupled with growing commuter and truck traffic from Lancaster, Fairfield County and beyond to the Columbus area resulted in traffic growth along US-33, increasing congestion and accidents along US-33 from Hamilton Road to Lancaster.

MORPC’s US-33 Major Investment Study suggested possible alternative modal solutions, evaluated the alternatives, and recommended a preferred course of action. The purpose of this type of study is to provide the region’s transportation decision makers with a tool to assist in evaluating alternatives to solve the defined problem.
