Plan Purpose and Development

Goals & Objectives

On July 8, 2010, MORPC’s Commission and MPO Policy Committee adopted a set of goals for ongoing regional planning activities called “Shaping our Future.” These six broad goal statements were developed jointly with the 2012 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), and were also adopted as goals for the MTP in the same resolution.

On July 14, 2011 MORPC’s MPO Policy Committee adopted objectives for the MTP. Objectives are ways to know whether the region is achieving the goals. There are multiple objectives for each goal. Objectives reflect tangible, measurable ways these goals can be achieved through the projects and strategies identified in the MTP.
