His presentation included research and trends which indicate that a broad regional transportation vision and adequate funding at the state and national level are needed to solve central Ohio’s current transportation and economic dilemmas.

FHWA AWorkshop - Analysis Tools and Methodologies Supporting Planning for Operations
June 10, 2008, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Scioto Conference Room
This workshop is aimed at exploring the need for and the availability of analysis methods and tools that can be used to plan for transportation system management and operations strategies in metropolitan areas. Learn what types of information and data are needed in order to better integrate operations in the overall planning process, and examine the capabilities of some of the many analysis methods and tools that are currently available for meeting these needs. An overview of the available analysis methods and tools will be provided and demonstrations of three example tools will also be provided (SCReening for ITS [SCRITS], ITS Deployment Analysis System [IDAS], and DYNASMART-P tools). There is no cost for this workshop, but registration is required.

Federal Funding Applicants' Workshop—June 19
Public agencies are invited to a workshop for those interested in applying for locally-entrusted federal funding through MORPC. Learn how to complete our single application for Surface Transportation Program (STP), Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program, and Transportation Enhancement (TE) Program funds. Draft principles and application procedures for these programs are available now, and are expected to be adopted by MORPC's Policy Committee with minimal changes on June 12. Therefore, we encourage you to read these documents and start gathering your application information today. The June 19 workshop (held here at MORPC from 2:00-4:00 pm) will cover the application process and give you an opportunity to ask questions. We strongly encourage you to attend. SCIP & LTIP Infrastructure Workshop—June 25 at 1:30 pm
District 3—Franklin County
MORPC will host an application workshop for applicants applying for funding through the State Capital Improvements Program (SCIP) and Local Transportation Improvement Program (LTIP) at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at MORPC's offices, 111 Liberty Street, Suite 100 in Columbus. To register for the workshop, email Wilma Yoder or call her at 614.233.4175. There is no fee to attend the workshop but registration by Friday, June 20, 2008, is requested.
The deadline for Round 23 applications is Monday, September 8, 2008, at 5 p.m. The Round 23 application materials and the schedule will be posted under Transportation/Funding & Grants at www.morpc.org by June 23.
