Kettering Foundation Project The outreach program for the development of the Planning Framework for Evacuation of the Transportation Needs Populations of Central Ohio is supplemented by on-going work by The Ohio State University, funded by the Kettering Foundation. This demonstration project is focused on establishing a collaborative approach to emergency management and communication throughout the Central Ohio region with the specific goal of improving emergency preparedness, disaster response, and disaster recovery for populations with specific mobility needs in the event of a natural or man-made emergency. The project involves coordination with the local EMAs, other agencies and organizations and the involved populations in Central Ohio to identify, address and improve communications. As part of the project, the Kettering Foundation is working with MORPC to demonstrate the importance of involving the public in the initial stages of community plan development and to incorporate the public involvement component to ensure participation and involvement of the identified special transportation population groups. The counties that are actively involved in the Kettering Foundation project are: Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union Counties, the same counties involved in this Plan, enabling effective collaboration between the two efforts. Information and insights gained from these meetings and public outreach are incorporated into the Plan for Evacuation of the Transportation Needs Populations of Central Ohio.
