In the past five years alone, the corridor surrounding SR 310 in Licking and Fairfield counties has experienced a tremendous amount of growth. The population has increased 20% to almost 78,000 people. The amount of retail (45%), industrial (60%), and office (65%) space has grown even more, resulting in a 61% increase of workers in the area to almost 39,000. These growth trends are projected to continue for at least the next 20 years. As a result, the impacted county and local governments have engaged the Mid-Ohio Planning Commission (MORPC) to lead a corridor study of the area to determine what actions should be taken to accommodate the realized and anticipated growth.
MORPC is working closely with the local partners: the City of Pataskala, Etna Township, Violet Township, Licking County Planning, LCATS, Fairfield County Engineer, and Fairfield County Planning, to indentify and analyze the existing conditions of the transportation network. Then using the projected future land use, we will forecast what the future conditions of the network will be. Using the results of the analysis, MORPC will recommend a strategic plan that will provide guidance to the local partners when making future capital improvement, transportation, and land use planning decisions.
