MORPC Relaunches Competitive Advantage Projects Program

Competitive Advantage Program (CAP) Drives Regional Prosperity Through Strategic Investments

[COLUMBUS, OH, July 21, 2025] – The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is launching a refresh of its Competitive Advantage Projects (CAP) Program.

The CAP Program is a unique tool to align infrastructure investments with economic development opportunities in Central Ohio. The program advances regional growth and economic well-being by assisting communities to drive investments toward their strategic and transformative projects.

As part of the refresh, CAP now aligns with the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s investment priorities and features four new program pillars: Sustainable and Efficient Economic Growth, Infrastructure Planning and Implementation, Economic Resilience, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

“Central Ohio is one of the fastest growing regions in the Midwest. Through the CAP Program, we look forward to working with our partners to identify and facilitate the construction of vital infrastructure needed to create more job opportunities and support more quality housing developments for residents. We are considering roads, bridges, water and sewer lines and other infrastructure needs to support economic development.”

The program also offers enhanced program benefits of alignment with regional strategies, advocacy with public officials, and coordination with internal MORPC programs, such as the Community Based Planning Assistance and Technical Assistance Programs.

“As the Central Ohio Economic Development District, MORPC enables and empowers communities to acquire resources that drive investments and achieve economic prosperity. The CAP program does just that through, first, identifying projects of regional significance, second advocating for them with Ohio’s elected officials and finally, leveraging resources to bring them to fruition. We are excited to work with our member communities on this enhanced version of the CAP program."

Interested communities can access the Project Nomination Form to share details on their project priorities. Completed forms are due by Sunday, August 31, 2025.

MORPC staff will review all nominated projects and inform the community if its project could benefit from participating in the CAP Program.
