MORPC Welcomes Village of Baltimore To Its Growing Membership

Addition of Village Will Strengthen Regional Collaboration

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), is pleased to welcome the Village of Baltimore as its newest member community, effective January 1, 2026, further strengthening the region’s collaborative approach to planning and development. The membership was voted upon and approved by the Commission today, November 13.

Located in Fairfield County, the Village of Baltimore joins a growing number of local governments working together to advance regional goals related to transportation, housing, sustainability, and economic development.

“We are excited to welcome the Village of Baltimore. Partnerships like this help to ensure that communities of all sizes have access to resources and it reflects the village’s continued commitment to planning for the future of our expanding region. We look forward to collaborating with Baltimore’s leadership to address the community’s unique needs and enhance regional prosperity.”

As a member, they will now have a seat at the regional table to influence policies and programs that shape the future of Central Ohio. The membership provides access to MORPC’s data, technical assistance, educational forums, and funding opportunities for local projects. The village will also have a representative serving as a voting member on the MORPC commission, which meets regularly to guide the agency’s strategic direction.

We are joining MORPC to take our place among the various communities that make up the greater Central Ohio family of communities. We recognize that the challenges and opportunities we face are not experienced in a vacuum, and that being supported and supporting others is the path to vibrancy for Baltimore and the rest of Central Ohio."

This addition reflects MORPC’s ongoing commitment to support rural and small communities as part of a cohesive network and brings the local government membership to a total of 91 members. The village has a population of 3,076 people and was initially dedicated as the village as Basil (a misspelling of Basel, Switzerland) on March 2, 1825.
