Addition of Village Will Enhance Regional Cooperation
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is pleased to welcome the Village of Centerburg as its newest member community, effective January 1, 2026.
The addition will further strengthen the region’s collaborative approach to planning and development. The Commission voted on and approved the village’s membership on December 11.
The village’s population is about 1,725 residents and it’s located in southwestern Knox County, about 40 miles northeast of Columbus. It joins a growing number of communities in MORPC that are working together to advance shared regional goals in transportation, housing, sustainability and economic and development.
"We are proud to welcome the Village of Centerburg as our newest partner. Collaborations with partners such as Centerburg are vital to guaranteeing that all communities have access to necessary planning resources and services.”
William Murdock, MORPC Executive Director
MORPC membership provides the village with access to MORPC’s data, technical assistance, educational forums, and funding opportunities for local projects. The village will also have a representative serving as a voting member on the MORPC commission, which meets regularly to guide the agency’s strategic direction.
"Mayor Tom Stewart, Centerburg Village Council, and myself are excited to join MORPC on behalf of our community. As Centerburg experiences unprecedented growth, we look forward to the collaboration and insight into issues that cross municipal and regional boundaries that MORPC provides along with their professional expertise and assistance with funding opportunities. We look forward to a long partnership in Central Ohio.”
Rick Dzik, Centerburg's Village Administrator
The addition of Centerburg brings MORPC’s local government membership to 92. For more information on the village, please visit: Village of Centerburg – Home.
