COLUMBUS, OH — The Regional Council of Governments (R-COG) for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA) announced the appointment of Tamara James as Interim Executive Director, effective September 15, 2025. Tamara will serve in the role through December 31, 2025, leading start-up operations, organizational planning, and the establishment of COAAA into its new regional governance structure.
Tamara brings more than two decades of leadership in aging and nonprofit organizations, including service as Interim State Director for AARP Ohio and most recently serving as part of the Senior Executive Team at COAAA for 6 years. Her background includes expertise in strategic planning, advocacy, nonprofit development, and community partnerships.
“This is an exciting step forward for our region. The collaboration among counties to stand up this new governance model reflects our shared commitment to serving older adults. Tamara’s leadership will help us align operations and partnerships, so we are ready for the next chapter.”
The R-COG COAAA was established in July 2025 to better reflect and serve the needs of the eight-county Central Ohio region. On January 1, 2026 the Ohio Department of Aging will designated the Regional Council of Governments for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging for Planning and Service Area 6 including eight Central Ohio counties.
