The Summit on Sustainability is MORPC’s signature environmental conference, bringing hundreds of community leaders together to explore and share sustainable ideas and solutions, and to celebrate individuals and collaborative sustainability efforts with the Regional Sustainability Awards.
This year, the Summit on Sustainability will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Hilton Columbus Downtown from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This year’s theme, Transforming Our Future, will focus on MORPC’s sustainability initiatives around energy, water quality, transportation, economic development, housing, air quality, data, social equity, and policy.
The Morning Plenary Session will kick-off with a keynote from Alan Walts, director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5’s Tribal and Multi-media Programs Office and will focus on environmental justice issues. Walts will share how the U.S. EPA is ensuring that everyone has a voice in decisions that affect their land, air, and water. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion featuring leaders across Central Ohio who will dive into the sustainability work that is being implemented in our region.
During the Lunch Plenary Session, Nichole Oocumma, PhD, SHRM-CP, Director of Talent Development at CareSource, will focus on how to be an inclusive leader when working on sustainability initiatives with Central Ohio communities. Oocumma has more than 25 years of experience in learning and development, specifically focused on supporting leaders and executives.
Following the lunch keynote, the Summit on Sustainability will feature Pecha Kucha style presentations from local leaders across the Central Ohio region.
Pecha Kucha Presenters include:
- Amy Acton, MD, MPH, Executive Director, RAPID 5
- Kristen Atha, Director of Public Utilities, City of Columbus
