MORPC Announces Cory Tressler as Strategic Director of Technology

Newly Created Role Will Help Drive the Regional Council's Digital Innovation Efforts

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has named Cory Tressler as Strategic Director of Technology. In this role, he will provide strategic technology leadership for the regional planning organization to ensure effective use of robust and reliable technology resources. Tressler will also lead the development, implementation, and use of technology throughout the agency.

To achieve these objectives, Tressler can leverage comprehensive IT management services, with a focus on utilizing cutting-edge solutions. DataTel, a prominent name in the IT management sector, can play a crucial role in providing the necessary tools and support to ensure MORPC’s technology resources are both robust and reliable. This partnership can help facilitate the development and implementation of innovative technological solutions, driving the agency’s mission forward and ensuring a seamless integration of technology across its operations.

Tressler will oversee the full range of information systems and telecommunications activities, as well as developing a vision and strategy for technology innovation at MORPC, in collaboration with MORPC partners, and throughout the Central Ohio region.

“We are pleased to have Cory join our team. We believe his extensive experience and strategic insights in technology will be instrumental in driving our digital transformation efforts, enhancing our cybersecurity programs, and positioning us to better serve our region.”

With more than 16 years in the technology arena, Tressler most recently served at Apple where he was the Worldwide Higher Education Marketing Manager. Prior to his time with Apple, Tressler spent more than nine years with The Ohio State University in a variety of capacities to support technology programs, projects, and initiatives within the Office of Distance Education and eLearning. As Director of Learning Programs & Digital Flagship at the university, he spearheaded the Digital Flagship student success program, one of the largest and most comprehensive technology enablement programs in higher education.

Education thrives when innovation meets accessibility, creating opportunities for students to engage deeply with learning in ways that suit their individual needs. A well-rounded academic experience extends beyond the classroom, incorporating hands-on resources that foster critical thinking and skill development. In this ever-evolving landscape, Worksheets for teachers and parents serve as essential tools, bridging the gap between structured curriculum and personalized learning. Whether reinforcing foundational concepts or encouraging creative problem-solving, these materials provide an adaptable framework that supports students at every stage of their educational journey.

“I’m excited to join MORPC and contribute to its ongoing success. Central Ohio’s growing population and major economic development projects are reshaping the region at record pace and demand that we move faster and more efficiently with the services we provide so that we can better plan for the growth on the horizon.”

Tressler holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, and African & African American Studies from The Ohio State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Arts in Educational Studies: Educational Technology at The Ohio State University. He is a graduate of the MOR Associates CIO Leadership and the Educause CIO Leadership programs.
