First-ever American Population Panel (APP) Public Opinion Poll Focuses on Transportation
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has launched the “Leaders Listen” survey series, in partnership with The Columbus Dispatch and CHRR at The Ohio State University, to obtain Central Ohio residents’ opinions on experiences and services in the region.
The Leaders Listen Series is a set of short surveys produced by MORPC that will periodically invite American Population Panel (APP) members residing within the Central Ohio region to share their input. The series also will be promoted by MORPC and partners CHRR and the Columbus Dispatch across print and digital channels to invite non-APP Central Ohio residents for additional survey input and recruitment into the APP. The first survey topic in this series is transportation and can be accessed at https://go.osu.edu/CentralOH.

It’s vitally important that survey participants include a racially, geographically, and socio-economically diverse group of individuals so that the decisions impacting transportation in rural, suburban, and urban communities are informed from a variety of voices, and our partners participation will ensure that those voices are heard.”
Central Ohio residents who are 18 years or older are eligible complete the survey at https://go.osu.edu/CentralOH and have the option to sign up for the APP to participate in future surveys. Participants are encouraged to spread the word to help attract diverse perspectives and opinions to ensure that the results represent the community. The results of this inaugural transportation survey will be revealed at MORPC’s annual signature State of the Region celebration, in person on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Columbus Downton Hilton.

Residents have until Friday, March 17 to take the survey and provide input into transportation-related experiences and services in the region. Those participating in the survey will be placed in a prize drawing with an opportunity to win 1 of 200 $10 e-gift cards. Prize drawing winners will be notified within 15 days of the survey closing.
“Having effective means of transportation is so important in this growing metropolitan area that I think it would be great for people to have an ability to communicate what the need is now and in the future. Through this partnership, it is our hope that the survey results will inform future transportation plans."
The American Population Panel (APP) is a group of volunteer members who agree to participate in social science and health related studies for research purposes. These studies are conducted by CHRR at The Ohio State University, a research center that has 55+ years of survey expertise. Any individual 18 years or older living in the U.S. can join the APP.
