MORPC Seeking Nominations for Green Region Awards

June 6, 2016

Do you know someone or an organization in Central Ohio that is working to create a more vibrant and sustainable region? If so, MORPC is seeking nominations for this year’s Green Region Awards. Nominations are accepted through June 30, 2016.

MORPC will present the awards at the Summit on Sustainability on October 21, 2016 at the Hilton Columbus Downtown. The Summit on Sustainability is MORPC’s signature environmental conference, which brings hundreds of community leaders together to explore and share sustainable ideas and solutions.

This year’s theme, Feeding Our Economy, will focus on sharing best practices that can be applied by local communities, regions, and businesses to enhance the built environment in which we live. These examples will be brought to attendees in four main categories: 1) Policy, 2) Energy & Environment, 3) Local Foods, 4) Land-Use, and 5) Transportation.

The Green Region Awards consist of three respective honors. The Green Leader Award recognizes an individual or entity exemplifying outstanding leadership and innovation in seeking comprehensive sustainable solutions to address key challenges facing the region. The Green Collaborative Achievement Award recognizes a group of entities or individuals who have shown effectiveness in producing environmental accomplishments through a collaborative effort.

In memory of William A. "Bill" Lewis, Jr., former Chief Mobility Engineer of the City of Columbus, the Green Mobility Award recognizes an individual, either professional or student, exemplifying outstanding work towards creating a world-class multi-modal transportation system for Central Ohio.
