Comments due by March 2, 2018

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has available for public review and comment the draft Coordinated Public Transit Human Services Transportation Plan (Coordinated Plan) for Franklin and Delaware counties.  The Coordinated Plan identifies transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, older adults, and people with low incomes, provides strategies for meeting those local needs, and prioritizes transportation services and projects for funding and implementation.

While required in communities seeking funding under the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA’s) Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program, the Coordinated Plan can identify and incorporate activities, programs and projects offered under other programs funded by federal, state, and local agencies to strengthen funding impact.

“The Section 5310 program provides funding to assist organizations that support our community’s most vulnerable populations: older adults and people with disabilities. The Coordinated Plan identifies those needs so that the applied funding has the greatest impact.”
Thea Walsh, MORPC Director of Transportation Systems and Funding

FTA’s Section 5310 provides approximately $1.8 million in grant funds for capital expenses for vehicles and related equipment used to transport seniors and people with disabilities and activities related to mobility management. Operating projects that specifically serve seniors and people with disabilities, travel training to instruct persons using fixed-route bus services, and capital projects to remove barriers at bus stops for persons with disabilities are eligible for funding.

The draft Coordinated Plan will be available for public review and comment until March 2, 2018.
