Summit on Sustainability

The Summit on Sustainability is MORPC’s signature environmental conference, bringing together hundreds of community leaders to explore and share sustainable ideas and solutions, and to celebrate individuals and collaborative sustainability efforts with the Regional Sustainability Awards.

The summit will feature keynote speaker Christopher Coes (bio found below) during the morning plenary session. There will also be breakout sessions that focus on energy, water quality, materials management, local foods, active transportation, land-use development, air quality, social equity, and policy.

During the lunch plenary session hear from local speakers that will provide Pecha Kucha style presentations while sharing real-life solutions and self-sustaining practices that will make our communities better today and tomorrow.

Christopher Coes is the Vice President of Land Use and Development at Smart Growth America. Under his leadership, he oversees Smart Growth America’s real estate programs including LOCUS: Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors, Form Based Codes Institute and TOD Finance and Advisors, Inc., a for-profit subsidiary of Smart Growth America.

Over the past nine years, Christopher has advised cities on community revitalization and sustainable and equitable economic development, including serving as an advisor to USDOT’s LadderSTEP Pilot Cities (Atlanta and Baton Rouge). In addition, he has facilitated numerous deal-making opportunities that have produced over $1 billion in new  real estate deals.
