Regional Projects Will Stimulate Innovation and Regional Cooperation
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has released the high-impact growth and economic development projects selected through its Competitive Advantage Projects (CAP) Program.
The CAP Program advances regional growth and economic well-being by assisting Central Ohio communities to drive investments that boost these strategic and transformative projects. MORPC advocates with government officials for project funding and connects projects with other MORPC technical assistance programs.
“Our focus remains on advancing initiatives that directly enhance Central Ohio’s regional vibrancy,. By strategically aligning these projects with regional priorities, we are strengthening our competitive edge as a region. Creating attractive communities is essential to driving new business investment.”
Padmini Roy-Dixon, MORPC’s Economic Development Director & Regional Innovation Officer.
MORPC has established four program pillars: Sustainable and Efficient Economic Growth, Infrastructure Planning and Implementation, Economic Resilience, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
These pillars align with the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s investment priorities—Critical Infrastructure, Workforce, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Economic Recovery & Resilience. Projects in the CAP Program align with one or more of these pillars.
The revamped program also expands the types of projects eligible for support. In addition to roadwork and utility improvements, the program now includes strategic trail development, housing initiatives, placemaking efforts, and other infrastructure and economic development projects that reflect the updated program pillars.
